October saw the first Hazlehurst Studios Urban Sketching Meetup! It was lovely to see such a brilliant turnout and we hope it's the start of many more. As well as producing some lovely sketches, there were lots of lovely conversations and very interested passersby.
This is a social group, with nobody leading the session, suitable for all drawing abilities and hosted by our resident urban sketcher Allison John.
What is Urban Sketching?
What is Urban Sketching? Urban Sketchers is a global artistic community that specializes in sketching on location within the cities, towns, and villages they call home or explore while traveling. This creative movement originated on Flickr in 2007, thanks to the efforts of journalist Gabriel Campanario.
It's a fantastic day out, spent with kindred spirits, sketching the beauty of your local surroundings. This is an excellent opportunity, especially if you're a bit apprehensive about sketching in public on your own. Plus, you'll have the chance to connect with fellow locals who share your passion for sketching.
What Should You Bring? Make sure to dress appropriately for the ever-changing British weather! Bring your preferred sketching materials and a sensible lightweight foldable chair.
Here are the sketches!
The next one will be Friday 3rd November - link to book on (free) - Eventbrite Link
Our November Meeting will take place at All Saints Church (a short distance from Hazlehurst Studios), starting at 10 am and concluding at 2 pm. We'll enjoy a leisurely local stroll and take a break for lunch. You're welcome to bring a packed lunch to enjoy in a sociable atmosphere.
